Picture It: Photos in the Closet

This week, Mama Kat’s Writer’s Workshop prompts me with this:

“Share a photograph that is not on your wall, but should be…if you weren’t so lazy about actually putting it there.”

Oh where to begin…

Sometimes the stars align and the light is just right and the subject is even better and that’s when even a smartphone camera can deliver a fantastic shot.

Janitzio, Mexico. Day After Day of the Dead.

As we walked up the steep path through the markets and restaurants of this colorful and history-filled island, I casually snapped this photo using the built-in camera on my Blackberry Storm.

I fell in love with this picture. It so captured the island and the experiences of our trip. So when we got back to Nashville, I immediately ordered an enlarged print that we could frame and hang on one of the endless white walls in our house.

That was October. This is July. The print – sill unframed – remains in a cardboard envelope on an overstuffed closet shelf.

And then there were these two photos we took on our honeymoon in Barcelona:

Wouldn’t they look great as a collection? We sure thought so. That’s why we ordered enlarged prints of these, too.

That was 2006. This is 2010.

The prints remain unframed. Whereabouts: Unknown.

Great colors in that first picture! Nice for a camera phone.

Maybe this will finally be the push I need to get the darn thing framed and on the wall.

Aww.. hopefully you find your photos – they are absolutely gorgeous. I know what you mean — it takes me forever to actually frame photos. The only reason I even have a framed one of our wedding is because my parents gave it to me framed and all.
    Stopped in from Mama Kat’s.

p.s. you have an awesome cameraphone – can’t believe that first picture! 🙂

      Thanks for stopping by!

I am convinced that was just dumb luck — I’ve never been able to get my camera phone to repeat that quality. Maybe the key is not to try so hard!
